The Battle for Kubwa is fought along a six-lane expressway. The road runs the length of the battlefield with a concrete median down the middle, an overpass crossing it, abandoned cars in the lanes and green farmland stretching away on both sides.
The real Kubwa
Kubwa is one of the largest satellite towns of the Federal Capital Territory, to the north-west of the city centre, linked to it by a busy expressway that thousands of people use every day. In the game, the expressway itself becomes the battlefield.
The battlefield
The road is flat, wide and marked with white lane lines and yellow edge lines, and it gives long, clear sight lines from one end of the field to the other. The concrete median is low but solid cover. The overpass near the middle of the field gives cover underneath and behind its pillars. Abandoned cars scattered across the lanes are the only other cover on the road. Off the road, the ground is gently rolling farmland.
How the enemy holds it
The enemy’s lines cross both the road and the fields. On the road, defenders shelter behind the median and the cars and can see you coming from far away. In the fields they are closer and harder to spot.
Tactics
- Don’t lead an attack straight down the open lanes. Send squads up the fields on either side and use the road for your tanks.
- The median is the best cover on the road: move along it.
- Tanks are strong here. The flat road lets them move fast and fire far.
- In misty dawn or rain the long sight lines disappear, and the fight comes much closer.
Side missions
Hostages are held just behind the enemy lines, often out in the fields. The commander of sector C tends to fight near the overpass, the strongest position on the road.
