In Asokoro you fight uphill toward a giant dome of bare granite that towers behind the enemy’s last line. The slopes are covered in boulders, and the enemy’s snipers watch from the high ground.
The real Asokoro
Asokoro lies on the eastern side of Abuja, at the foot of Aso Rock, the great granite monolith that rises behind the Three Arms Zone and is one of the city’s best-known landmarks. The game’s battlefield is built around that image: a huge rock dome dominating the horizon above a field of boulders.
The battlefield
This is the hilliest of the first battlefields. The ground climbs toward the enemy, and the great dome rises far behind sector E, with two smaller domes on the flanks. Boulders from a few metres across to the size of a truck are scattered over the slopes, especially in the enemy’s half of the field. The largest stop bullets and block sight, so they are the best cover in the game.
How the enemy holds it
Defence lines sit on the rises, with snipers placed further back where they can see over the boulders. Because you are always attacking uphill, the enemy often sees you before you see them.
Tactics
- Take the M24 sniper rifle and answer the enemy snipers first. A sniper on high ground can pin down a whole squad.
- Move from boulder to boulder. The open slopes between them are where you lose soldiers.
- Use the high ground yourself once you take it: a captured rise looks straight down on the next enemy line.
- Rhino’s Armour up gets you across the last open slope to a line.
Side missions
Hostages are kept behind boulders just past each line. The enemy commander in sector C fights from the rocks: Hawk’s drone scan helps you find him before he finds you.
